To all,

I use Self-Xrefs a lot in DC & was wondering, can you crop or change the image area to a reduced size of the Self-Xref image after the fact :?:

I haven't tried it with self-xrefs but have you tried XClip?

Hi Alan,

I was intrigued with your reply so decided to check this out.
As noted previously, I use Self-Xrefs a lot within a drawing file, sometimes just for temporary purposes for grabbing say a floor plan for developing elevations to cast lines from the plan etc. I also sometimes need to see a rough layout of a particular drawing sheet with combined plans & elevations on some projects, the elevations can be set at a different scale. So, I just Self-Xref the elevations & change the size, sort of like Multiscale plotting, but in advance, if you see what I mean.
----------------
Anyway, I can report that with some further investigation with your XClip clue, ‘croping’ a Self-Xref can be done as noted below:-
Pull down menu: Insert
Reference File Management > then Clip Cubes,
Then select Xref to modify ClipCube (albeit Self-Xref),
Then in the side menu: XClip, then Edit,
Then in the side Edit menu, select Drag Edge.
----------------
So, this effectively is manual cropping of said image. I note further Edit options in this menu, like what we see with polyline edits, so I’ll have to look into these as well, but I guess this may also mean the cropped shape can be an irregular shape as well.
Thanks for nudging me in this direction, I just wish I knew this years ago

Over & out,
Clayton.

Hi, Clayton -

Yes, XClips can be irregular shapes as well - they are VERY versatile!

Have fun learning about the new "toy"!
